Preserving Your Innocence, Your Freedom And Your Record

You are innocent until proven guilty. At our law firm, we treat every client with dignity and respect. Our attorneys do everything in their power to protect your innocence.

At Law Offices of Burch, Morrison, & Stewart, we treat accusations as what they truly are — accusations, not facts.

Our attorneys know there is more to the story than the police report. We work with private investigators to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding our clients’ charges. We interview friends and family members, identify eyewitnesses and investigate the alleged victim’s history to poke holes in stories, uncover inconsistent stories and undermine the strength of the prosecutor’s case.

Being convicted of a sex crime such as rape or a sex crime involving a minor not only brings the possibility of fines, long jail sentences and sex offender registration requirements, but the accusation alone can take a toll on personal and family relationships. At Law Offices of Burch, Morrison, & Stewart, we understand the embarrassment and public scrutiny brought by sex crime accusations. That is why our attorneys do everything in their power to keep you out of the courtroom and out of the court of public opinion.

Sex Offender Registration

Tennessee has strict sex offender registry requirements. Convicted sex offenders must report annually and those convicted of violent sex crimes must report quarterly. Violent sex offenders must register and report for life, while nonviolent sexual offenders can request to have their registration requirement terminated after 10 years. In addition, those convicted of sex crimes must report in person at their local police department or sheriff’s office within 48 hours of any change in their housing, employment or schooling.
