Arrested at Bonnaroo

Let’s Review Your Case

Arrested At Bonnaroo? We Can Defend You.

Bonnaroo is a four-day music festival held in Manchester, Tennessee, every June and draws tens of thousands of people from all over the United States to our community. Hundreds of arrests are made each year in connection with the festival, primarily as a result of vehicle searches on the way into the festival. Since its inception in 2002, arrests made at Bonnaroo were treated differently than arrests made in Coffee County during the rest of the year. Typically persons charged with criminal offenses at Bonnaroo were sent a letter from the District Attorney’s office, which instructed them that if they paid a contribution to the Coffee County Drug Fund or another similar entity, then the charge would essentially be dismissed. In sum, the more serious the offense was, the greater the monetary contribution was. There was no probation involved, even for very serious drug offenses.

In August 2014, a new District Attorney was elected in Coffee County. He has made it clear that in 2015, arrests made at Bonnaroo will be treated just like any other criminal prosecution in Coffee County. What this means is that if, for example, you are charged with a Class B felony drug offense during Bonnaroo, you will no longer be able to pay a $10,000 contribution and walk away. You will be required to make multiple court appearances, and your case will be prosecuted like any other Class B felony, which is punishable by eight to 12 years in prison.
