April 2000
Eric J. Burch gains acquittal of man charged with aggravated robbery in his first criminal felony jury trial. The trial occurred in Coffee County.
June 2001
In Eric J. Burch’s first case before the Tennessee Supreme Court, Pitts v. Young, the Supreme Court confirms that a biological father’s rights trump the rights of a stepfather who had raised the child to that point. Mr. Burch represented the biological father
April 2003
Eric J. Burch represents lady charged with second degree murder. She was found not guilty by reason of insanity in Franklin County. This case marked one of the only times in Tennessee history the defense has been used successfully. The Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the decision in State v. Kennedy.
